Today, it's definitely worth making the trip. We've had 8 cm of powder snow over the last 24 hours and 95% of the skiable area is accessible! The weather is mild, with a temperature of -2°C at 5 a.m. The snow will continue to fall slowly but surely throughout the day. What better way to maintain these beautiful conditions! The base is generally firm except for a few places in sector 7 where it is hard packed. The surface consists of powder, groomed powder, and skied powder. After yesterday’s thaw, the snow is holding up very well and the day looks set to be a good one to come and enjoy it. And the good news after this thaw is that the forecast between Saturday evening and Sunday is for snow. Due to yesterday’s freeze-thaw cycle, which softened the surfaces for excellent skiing, the temperature dropped slightly during the night and again this morning, so the surfaces are still wet or sticky in places but have mostly firmed up and hardened. The bases are firm, and you may encounter a few icy patches here and there on your run. aus Mont Sutton

I have been skiing 30 plus years and I have skied all over the USA and Canada East to West. Jay peak is in a league of its own for snow quality and quantity compared to any other eastern ski resort. I have had just as many powder days at Jay peak as I have had at SnowMass or Alta. The difference with those places is they are way bigger, so less tracked up and snow stays for days and weeks as powder due to elevation. With Jay you have to plan around the weather and when it dumps stay there a few days, it won’t disappoint. It’s honestly as gnarly as it gets.
