Perito Moreno Skigebiet Guide

Perito Moreno ski resort is located 25 km North of Bolson, Province of Rio
Negro. Perito Moreno is a small ski area with just one chair lift, owned and operated by the Andino Piltriquitrón club and is 25 km northwest of El Bolsón on the eastern slope of the Pico Mayor. The name was given in honour of Francisco 'Perito' Moreno who was an early surveyor of the borders nearby and became one of the first skiers in Argentina. The area at Perito Moreno can utilise its average snow fall as the terrain is rock free. The mountain has a small glacier named Perito Moreno, locals are very proud of it and and many times it is confused with the bigger and more famous Glacier Perito Moreno located in the province of Santa Cruz: but that one does not have a ski piste.
Perito Moreno has opportunities for ice climbing and trekking but the off-piste skiing is poor due to the very thick forest.
